Improving the User Interface of Badu to help businesses manage their customer inquiries better.

Badu is CRM tool used to manage customer support and inquries. Through Ux Auditing and Iterartions I was able come up with a more detailed and user friendly result that helped to improve the user interface and functionality. At the end of the day, I can confidently say that Badu would help business manage customer complaint swfitly.

For context

For the purpose of this project I used an alias name for  because of the NDA agreement I had with the client. Badu is a CRM management tool that allows businesses manage the growing needs and enquiries from their cutomers while potentially providing customer support. A redesign of the Badu web application was very neccesaary, to be able to meet the needs of their customers who tried to manage client-related issues using Badu.

The major focus was working on the Admin platform. This was because it controlled the whole workflow for a business.

Problem & Challengess

According to the client the existing UI was no more serving it's purpose as. The functionality and the wordflow greatlyaffected the user experience this eveidently would cost Badu to loose it's enterprise users.

One challenge I faced was this was my first time working on an enterprise project with a lot of moving parts I had to figure out a way to combine functionality and asthetically please designs togther to craete a great user experience.

Process & Method

Understand what the client needs and goal helped to shape what process I took to solve this issue. Because this was a redesign of an existing project I divided my process into 3 parts UX Audit, Ideation & Iteration and design.

Ux Audit

I carried out a UX audit of the current platform to figure out specific functionality and process that could be maintained or enhance during the design phase this was also to maintain that existing users were familiar with certain work flows. After the audit I deduced a couple of things:

  • Some of the processes were incomplete
  • The placement and grouping of elements were confusing this would affect the simplicity and the user experience of the platform
  • The information architecture wasn’t so thought out
  • It lacked some very common features and screens that similar platforms had which was also a problem

Ideation & Iteration

At this stage, My focus was on creating a mood board and also working on the wireframes, these guided my iterartion, as I was able to quick make decisons and implement them.

Design

Here I focused on key features and functionalities that helped to move the needle.

Takeaways & Conclusion

This was one project that opened my mind to understand how to think differently when working on a Saas or enterprise project. This project also gave me the opportunity to learn a great deal, case-in-point is how I managed to carry out the UX Audit.

Going forward I willl carry out some usability test that will help me iterate better and come up with easier ways to help the users of Badu attend to their clients needs.
